It is widely believed that Jacob Rees-Mogg is a time-traveller from the Edwardian era. A malfunction in the Machine created a wormhole in the space-time (or is that time-space?) continuum, projecting Jacob 100 years into the future. His constancy is literally the period 1910-1939, and he seeks to represent his constituents by strenuously opposing anything modern. Except social media. Jacob loves social media.

Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Went to school at Eton then read history at Oxford.

Pre-political Career[edit | edit source]

Worked in finance, including in Hong Kong (part of the British Empire).

Early Political Career[edit | edit source]

Parliamentary Career[edit | edit source]

Elected in 2010. He was described as 'Cameron's worst nightmare' upon his election, personifying every stereotype about Tory MPs that David Cameron had spent the last five years trying to destroy. He has lived up to the title, not only by being posher than the Queen, but by being one of the most rebellious backbenchers.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

His wife, Helena de Chair, is an heiress and the daughter of ex-MP Somerset de Chair and Lady Juliet Tagdell. They have six imaginatively-named children. Their nanny is the same one who cared for Jacob as a boy.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

He always wears a suit, usually double breasted, although he may wear tweeds in the country. He parts his hair on the side and wears rimless spectacles.

Portrayal[edit | edit source]

In the Media[edit | edit source]

Jacob comes across as articulate, polite and with a self-deprecating sense of humour. He has appeared on Have I Got News for You and was very funny.

In Fanon[edit | edit source]

He is under-represented in the fandom, with the memorable exception of the occasion he attempted (succeeded?) in muscling in on Nutvies (if muscling is the correct term with someone as languid as Jacob).
