David Dimbleby is an august institution of the British political commentariat. He was the news anchor for every election for the BBC since 1979, and he's chaired Question Time since 1994. With immense patience, superhuman alertness and perfect impartiality, he has narrated all the great political battles of the past quarter century. Opinions differ on his effectiveness as a Question Time moderator, but we can all agree he wears amazing ties. When he finally retires Britain will probably collapse into despotism simply because no one can conceive of how to run a democracy without him.
Life and Career[edit | edit source]
Presenter of Question Time, a cutting edge politics programme inviting a group of more or less terrified politicos/journalists/vaguely VIPs to face the wrath of the masses. A well-known edition was the one with BNP Leader Nick Griffin, in which Griffin defended a colleague's links with the KKK and kindly told a British Asian member of the audience that he "could stay in Britain". Dimbles was his usual HBIC self throughout, and managed to deal with Griffin without visibly vomiting, which is yet another display of his Unearthly Powers.
He has never been seen to sleep; it is suspected by the fandom that he lacks this capacity.
