Description | Closeted love on the Conservative backbenches |
When I see my honourable friends for Shipley and Bury in the chamber, I know that these sextons on duty, these pallbearers of Private Member's Bills, are probably going to make some fairly lengthy contributions to this debate which may well not enhance the nation's understanding...~ Tony Baldry
Is it true love, or just Euroscepticism? Trick question: it's both.
History[edit | edit source]
For five years Philip Davies was a lone crusader against the world's evils, such as Political Correctness Gone Mad and the unfortunate proximity of the British Isles to a continent infested with Europeans. PETER BONE had his Philip Hollobone, but would Philip ever find love? His lucky break came with the 2010 election, when David Nuttall was elected to Parliament. They were soon trolling the Government and their parliamentary colleagues hand in hand.
Support[edit | edit source]
They have many shippy exchanges in Hansard, such as this one:
David Nuttall: When I was young—
Philip Davies: You still are.
David Nuttall: Thank you.
Much can also be read into their body language. They always sit next to each other on the Conservative backbenches, gazing adoringly up at one another as they stand up to speak, and there are literally no photographs containing both Philip and David in which they are not standing side by side.
Here's a photo from their civil partnership:
Okay, I'm lying. Philip came to speak at a golf club in David's constituency, and for some reason David felt the need to immortalize the event by posting this photo on his website. This gay, gay photo.
Here's another shot. Yet again they are side by side:
Fanon[edit | edit source]
Nutvies is a new pairing without much exposure, but it is rapidly gaining acceptance in the fandom. So far they have been portrayed as so far in the closet they can see Narnia and get outraged about the political situation. No one voted for these Telmarines, coming across the water and telling Narnians what to do! It's high time they had a referendum.
