10 Downing Street
10 Downing Street, commonly known as Number 10, is the headquarters of Her Majesty's Government and the traditional home of the Prime Minister, who has a flat above the offices and state rooms. Because Tony Blair had a young family at the time he took office, he swapped houses with the then-single Gordon Brown so he could live in the larger flat above the Chancellor's traditional residence at Number 11. The Camerons have continued this tradition of flat-swapping, since the Osbornes don't actually live on Downing Street and George only uses his flat to pull all-nighters/host orgies.
As the home of the Prime Minister it is a prominent location in the lolitical world, and it (or its rose garden) will often be referenced or used as a setting for fic.
It has:
- Offices.
- State rooms.
- Marble fireplaces.
- Over-stuffed chairs covered in teal brocade.
- Oil paintings.
- A tea service.
- A rose garden.
- A secret corridor linking DCam and Nick Clegg so they can meet for sex without the civil service knowing (probably).
- A secret corridor linking Number 10 with the Cabinet Office so that civil servants can sneak around without the press knowing (definitely).
- A "Thatcher Room"
- CCTV
As far as we know, Arthur Balfour is the only person to ever hold a seance in 10 Downing Street.[1]
