James Lundie is an ex-Lib Dem spad and David Laws' first and only boyfriend. He currently works as a PR man for the Murdoch empire.
Life and Career[edit | edit source]
Started working as an adviser speechwriter for Paddy Ashdown in 1996. When Charles Kennedy succeeded Ashdown as leader James stayed on as a researcher and became his deputy press secretary in 2001. He left two years later to join a lobbying and PR firm.
He rose to the attention of the fandom when David Laws doctored his expenses claims to conceal their relationship and The Telegraph outed them. Overnight James was transformed into a minor lolitical celebrity.
He is currently Group Managing Director of Edelman’s Corporate & Financial division in London.
Junders[edit | edit source]
James Lundie has a largely defunct Twitter account, whose nine tweets have been put under much scrutiny. It is suspected a complex code is being used where food references indicate David Laws. Either that or he's a foodie.
Portrayal[edit | edit source]
In the Media[edit | edit source]
The Independent has a massive crush on James, describing him as "the dazzlingly handsome, cocktail-drinking, spinach mousse-eating James Lundie".
The rest of the article reads like a love-letter, first of all extolling his beauty: "It has never been possible for anyone to talk about James Lundie without mentioning his appearance. He is traditionally, universally rated as the Most Handsome Liberal Democrat." It reads like Mills & Boon on a good day. We hear how "he is far more than a pretty face" and are then introduced to "the then leader's ferociously intelligent policy director, David Laws". Pointless details such as "Lundie was also very knowledgeable about sharks" show the extent of The Independent's love for Lundie.
In Fanon[edit | edit source]
Junders Thunder[edit | edit source]
James' hotness moved one lolitician to write this ode to him. One can only assume they were so overcome with lust they forgot to make the lines scan.
Do you feel the Junders thunder
Compelling you to start to groove?
David felt the Junders thunder
Shortly after having moved.
Everyone loves the Junders thunder
But David loves it most of all.
It's nice to see that the Junders thunder
Doesn't need its men to be tall.
Juuuuuuuunders thunder.
Can change your life with relative ease.
Juuuuuuuunders thunder.
Loves sharks and cheese...
Sharks and Cheese.
It's not quite clear how Junders thunder
Ends up making two men kiss.
For best effect, use Junders thunder
On sexually repressed economists.
Mysterious is the Junders thunder
Its powers as yet not fully shown
One thing is certain: Junders thunder
Makes you get into trouble about who and how much you pay to live in what you have claimed as your second home.
Juuuuuuuunders thunder.
Can make you fall in love with relative ease.
Juuuuuuuunders thunder.
Loves sharks and cheese...
SHARKS AND CHEESE!
