Chris Tarrant feeds you the curry of satire.

Have I Got News For You (HIGNFY) is a satirical panel show, the televisual equivalent of The News Quiz. There are two series per year- one in the spring and one in the autumn- and it's been running continuously since 1990. 2015 will see its 50th series.

Angus Deayton hosted HIGNFY from the start of its run until 2002, when there was an unfortunate incident with a lady of the night and some fairy dust. Since then, comedians, politicians, journos and sundry skint celebrities have guest-hosted each episode. The two regular panellists are Ian Hislop (Editor of Private Eye) and Paul Merton (unscrubbed comedian extraordinaire), who are joined weekly by largely the same sort to host the show - the main distinction is that they can improvise their comedy, as opposed to imbibing it from the drip-feed of an autocue. One politician to rise in profile after multiple appearances as a panelist and once as a guest host is Boris Johnson. He has since become Mayor of London, to the confusion of most residents of London, and quite possibly Boris himself.
