To Do List[edit source]

Major Changes[edit source]

Content Stuff[edit source]

  • External fandom resources (eg. Tumblr, that Lolitics links list, the two Lolitics Archive Project archives, the various LJ comms) should probably have either their own pages in the fandom section, or a devoted subsection of the Resources page, or both. I have no firm ideas about the best way to do this... thoughts?
What's the rule for linking to locked things on here e.g. The Main Comm? Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 18:13, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
I think it's fine to link at least to the main comm page, with an explanation that you need to be a member to see it. (Linking to individual entries would get annoying fast, so that's probably a no unless we have a really good reason.) And we can link to the meme and fics now because the wiki pages are not Googleable. I wouldn't link to locked fics on AO3, as those are completely invisible to the internet unless you're logged in and the authors may not want the wider world alerted to their existence.Kainosite (talk) 06:04, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Do we need a "Things" category? I'm thinking here of the Mace and the Machine, but there's other stuff like Budget Boxes and whatnot. Is it significant enough to go on the sidebar? Kainosite (talk) 04:55, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
I think so - there are frequent enough references to that sort of stuff that it needs to be fairly easy to get to. I know there's the search function but I don't know how many would think to use that automatically rather than trying to find it through other pages. Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 18:37, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Done! Also if this would enable us to get rid of "Miscellaneous" that would be fab, because that has always been a terrible stupid category which I hated. But neither Ceiling Dolphin nor CCTV are really "things" and they don't seem to fit anywhere else. :/ Kainosite (talk) 01:41, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Coding/Documentation Stuff[edit source]

  • Civil servants probably need a template. Or do they? Is there information about them we're likely to need to reference quickly?
  • Activists probably also need a template
  • Modify parsers so old Tories and old Liberals get purple and orange boxes

Wanted Pages and Improvements[edit source]

People[edit source]

  • Party leaders and other people likely to become important in the very near future: ????????
  • Past PMs like Stanz B
  • Betty Boothroyd
  • Tony Banks should probably have his own page for all his amazing quotes and this EDM (also Fauldbanks because it is basically canon! Here's the link to the one fic for future linking)
  • We really ought to try to get major Cabinet members up- people like May not having pages is slightly embarrassing, even if they don't feature in much fic.
Theresa May is done, who else do we need? Ken Clarke maybe? Or Philip Hammond? IDS? Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 13:51, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
I think we should probably prioritise the current Cabinet members. I'd like to try to get some of the women up too just to improve our lamentable gender balance... Says me who put up Greg Clark of all people Kainosite (talk) 15:46, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
Theresa May MP, Philip Hammond, Amber Rudd, Boris Johnson, Michael Fallon, Elizabeth Truss, Justine Greening, David Davis, Liam Fox, Greg Clark, Jeremy Hunt, Damian Green, Chris Grayling, Sajid Javid, David Lidington, The Baroness Evans of Bowes Park, David Mundell, Alun Cairns, James Brokenshire, Andrea Leadsom, Priti Patel, Karen Bradley, Patrick McLoughlin Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 19:10, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Now Corbyn's announcing his Shadow Cabinet we should probably give some of the new guys in prominent positions pages too. Heidi Alexander (Health), John McDonnell (Treasury) are the two big ones at the moment I think Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 05:35, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
Definitely. Lisa Nandy too probably. We also need to update appointments and categories for the people who do have pages already and are still in or promoted: Chris, Tom, etc. I went and purged all the people who are out, but the promotions are more work and I don't have time today. Maybe this weekend? Kainosite (talk) 16:55, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah sounds like a plan. Luciana Berger too possibly, and Gloria de Piero if we have time. Rosie Winterton? At least Corbyn's Shadow Cabinet will help us with our gender balance on the wiki... Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 07:15, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
  • Ed Miliband's explanatory Milipatch picture was a broken link when the wiki was moved- he needs a new one
  • The Murdochs, Andy Coulson and other phone hacking related people (Mr Jay? Lord Leveson?)
  • Tory Owen Jones (Tom Pursglove) seems to be a meme so a stub article for him might be a good idea
Come to think of it, Owen Jones himself needs a page... Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 07:23, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
  • Ashcroft probably needs a page given his book and PigGate
  • Zac Goldsmith has just been announced as the Tory candidate for Mayor of London so he should probably have a page too
  • Seamus Milne?
  • Tory party leadership candidates should probably have their own pages too.
  • Ken Livingstone
  • Crikey, Sajid Javid doesn't have a page. That's just embarrassing.

Shipping[edit source]

  • Various Gove pairings
  • TBGB
  • The Clameron page is embarrassingly awful. I put it up because not having one at all was even more embarrassing but someone who knows something about the pairing desperately needs to fill it in.Kainosite (talk) 17:25, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Milibros/Milicest purely because BBC Radio 4 apparently ships it to an Adele soundtrack (https://twitter.com/BBCr4today/status/656838783413809152) Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 18:29, 21 October 2015 (UTC)

Groups & Gangs[edit source]

  • Parties that don't have pages yet: the Greens, the Northern Ireland parties if we're feeling really diligent
  • Assorted internal factions who don't have pages yet: the Orange Bookers, the Social Liberal Forum, New Labour, the SCG, the Cameroons
  • Corbynites?

Media and Culture[edit source]

  • None of the broadcasters even have a page yet
  • The Deal
  • This House
  • Coalition of Gatissness (plus Gatiss ships MandelBrown https://twitter.com/Markgatiss/status/581814559113134080)
  • Does Guido need a page?
  • Crack Week (plus associated people like Andrew Neil and Michael Portillo) and Questionable Time don't have pages yet
  • Buzzfeed maybe?
  • Evening Standard? - More important now that Osborne is editor Tinypurpleteacup (talk)

2015 Electoral Contests[edit source]

Do the Labour and Lib Dem leadership contests themselves deserve pages? Admittedly nothing interesting has happened in either so far except Chuka giving up three days in. Kainosite (talk) 16:51, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

If they do, then the general elections (particularly 2010 and 2015 for fandom relevance) probably should too. Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 09:31, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

Maybe something about the Mayoral candidature too? Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 08:44, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

I sort of feel that most of them are going to lose by a lot so we don't care. Like, do we have an opinion on Tessa Jowell or David Lammy if they don't win? So I'm inclined to wait until we see a little more of how the contest is going before we get stuck in to them. I'll edit Sadiq's page though. Kainosite (talk) 21:55, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
I know that I have opinions on Tessa Jowell and David Lammy but they're more political than lolitical. Leaving them out unless they do something noteworthy (like winning the nomination) seems like the best idea to me. Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 08:17, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Fandom and Fic[edit source]

  • The RP needs a explanation/guide page, probably with links to the blogs
  • Magical AU page
Mostly done, although it needs pictures and would probably benefit from an index of all the fics involved Kainosite (talk) 04:51, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Miscellaneous[edit source]

  • Baked Goods needs a Pancake Day section Added. Could do with some expanding later on.
  • I have a feeling seating arrangements are going to become very important in this Parliament, so we should keep our eyes peeled for a current chart (or possibly make our own) to update the Commons Chamber page once the seating order is established. Kainosite (talk) 17:25, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
  • At some point we definitely need to add coverage of those Guardian MP blind dates
  • Oh maaaaaaaan we're going to have to excise Ed Balls and Julian and Jack Straw from the PMQs page. D: Kainosite (talk) 21:06, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Can't we just put the current list under a sub-heading since Clegg isn't going to be "looking at DCam's arse" either now and Bercow's probably leaving this session too? Something like "Common Features - 2010 Parliament" followed by "Common Features - 2015 Parliament"? Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 05:24, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
  • We totes need a "Dodgy Lib Dem Bar Charts" page
  • EVEL passed. If anyone actually knows wtf the standing orders are now and how legislation works, it might be an idea to put something up about it at some point. Or not. Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 18:28, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Buzzfeed's Jamie Ross got 2 MPs to admit that 18.4% of the HoC are lizards (https://twitter.com/JamieRoss7/status/676428972918489088). This is the sort of stuff that needs to go on here somewhere, right? Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 19:16, 14 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Traingate (if we're doing the Corbyn one they what about that one where Osborne snuck into first class and it was all live tweeted so he had to be taken out the goods exit to stop everyone hounding him?)
  • Ed Balls on Strictly

Possible Page Forks[edit source]

Stuff that is currently a section of a bigger page/s but might deserve a page of its own at some point

  • Ed Balls Day
  • Milifandom (or should that just be a section on the Ed Miliband page?) Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 11:44, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
  • The Bercow Coup
  • 1979 confidence vote
  • Fandom pages like "The Comm", "The Meme", etc
  • Points of Order

Cosmetic Stuff[edit source]

  • Broken header image
Finally got off my arse and fixed this, five years after it broke Lolitics (talk) 17:17, 9 December 2019 (UTC)

Tutorial Improvements[edit source]

Since I had to teach myself MediaWiki and then write the tutorial, I have absolutely no sense of how good or useful it is. So, wiki newbies: is there anything that was particularly confusing to you or needs to be explained better? (This applies to general Lolitics wiki organizational stuff or Getting Started issues as well.) Lolitics (talk) 16:36, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

  • Aside from tables, which are obviously a disaster. (I am tackling tables after lunch.) Lolitics (talk) 16:36, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
Can't think of anything that stuck out to me - apart from the tables thing but I assumes that was me rushing things and not reading properly; the rest is pretty well explained. Tinypurpleteacup (talk) 16:52, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
