Hilary Benn is the Shadow Secretary for Communities and Local Government and known for being the second son of Tony Benn.

Hilary Benn is a fourth generation MP. He was born in Hammersmith, London, to the former Cabinet Minister Tony Benn and educationalist Caroline Benn. He attended three different schools, including one private schools and went on to study Russian and East European Studies at the University of Sussex.

Liked well enough by the party and acting as a rallying unity point following the election of Jeremy Corbyn to the leadership in 2015, Benn was pushed before he could walk after the 2016 EU referendum result (at 1am). Many of his Cabinet colleagues threatened walk out along with him. Heidi Alexander was the first to follow through with this threat.
