Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Theresa was born in Eastbourne, Sussex,to Rev. Hubert Brasier, an Anglican clergyman and Zaidee and his wife. She attended a number of school as a child, predominately because as soon as she joined one, it would invariably be taken over by another school or shut down. She read Geography at St Hugh's College, Oxford, graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in 1977.

Pre-political Career[edit | edit source]

After graduating, Theresa went to work at the Bank of England until 1983 and then a senior financial adviser elsewhere until she was elected in 1997.

Early Political Career[edit | edit source]

Theresa and Tim in 1992. What a choice.

Theresa had always been interested in Conservative politics and while working as a financial adviser was also a Tory Councillor for the London Borough of Merton until 1994. She was chairman of Education from 1988 to 1990 and Deputy Group Leader and Housing Spokesman from 1992 to 1994.

Theresa unsuccessfully fought the safe Labour seat of North West Durham where she ran against Tim Farron and also lost the 1994 Barking by-election to Labour following the death of the previous MP.

Parliamentary Career[edit | edit source]

In Opposition[edit | edit source]

Theresa entered parliament in 1997 as member for the newly created seat of Maidenhead. She was the first of the 1997 to reach Cabinet and was generally seen by people and being a stead, safe pair of hands for most of her time in parliament so far.

In Government[edit | edit source]

Following the 2010 General Election and the subsequent hung parliament and coalition government, Theresa May was appointed Home Secretary. She would have loved this, except for the fact that she had to deal with the Lib Dems a lot who didn't really like her approach to running the department. In particular, she came up against opposition from Norman Lamb when it came to drugs policy and most of the rest of the party when it came to her plans on the "Snoopers Charter" and the Human Rights Act.

She was reappointed Home Secretary after the 2015 general election and immediately set about getting all the stuff done that she couldn't do when she was in coalition.

Leadership Bid[edit | edit source]

Following the 2016 EU Referendum and David Cameron's resignation, Theresa decided she was going to stand for the leadership of the Conservative Party and, therefore, to become Prime Minister. She sprang into the lead early which in Conservative Party history means her campaign is doomed.

She won the leadership election without a single vote being cast because everyone who stood against her fucked up really badly within 18 days of the EU referendum.

As Prime Minister[edit | edit source]

Since becoming Prime Minister, May has been seen to cozy up to Donald Trump, condemn the National Trust over an Easter Egg story that was entirely false, and make PMQs more boring than anyone could have ever imagined. And people used to think she was a safe pair of hands...

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Theresa is married and has no children. This has meant that a number of sexist twats have said some pretty shitty things about her, particularly when she was younger, but Theresa didn't really give a fuck. It also became a point of contention in the 2016 leadership contest which ultimately resulted in her only rival - Andrew Leadsom - withdrawing from the race making May Prime Minister.

While in government she lost a lot of weight. Initially she told the press that this was down to a healthier diet and exercise regime and later revealed that these changes in her lifestyle were brought about because she discovered that she had diabetes. This revelation damaged her chances for standing for the leadership in the future according to some commentators while others praised her for her honesty. In the end it didn't seem to matter too much because she became Prime Minister.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Theresa is known both within fandom and in the public in general for her fashion sense.

Outfits[edit | edit source]

There have been articles charting the changes in Theresa's fashion sense and outfits throughout her time as MP because a lot of journalists have nothing better to do with their time and it worked as a fluff piece that they could point to to say that they did talk about a female MP actually. Most of these assert that as she worked her way up the ranks of Conservative Party politics, she started to dress better and buy more expensive clothes, all in a bid to one day be leader of the party. You can make up your own mind as to whether this is a credible theory.

Here are some of her best outfits:

Space Suit[edit | edit source]

One of fandom's "favourite" outfits that she wears with regularity has been "affectionately" dubbed the Space Suit. It is not very hard to see why:

Shoes[edit | edit source]

One of the other things that she is particularly well known for outside of the lolitics fandom is her love for leopard print shoes. However, she seems to just like fancy shoes in general, animal print or not.

Portrayal[edit | edit source]

In the Media[edit | edit source]

The Tory media tend to like her because she's a lot more right wing on issues such as civil liberties than most of David Cameron's allies. The left-wing media hate her because she's a lot more right win on issues such as civil liberties than most of David Cameron's allies. Occasionally she gets called "The Next Margaret Thatcher" which can either be a compliment or an insult depending which newspaper it's coming from. Since being declared leader of the Conservative Party political journalists have been rushing to try and be the first one to write a biography of her life so expect those for Christmas 2017.

In Fanon[edit | edit source]

The fandom in general skews further left than Theresa so she is not universally liked. In particular, her patchy history regarding the rights of same-sex couples marks her out as a baddie in fandom's eyes. That said, her outfits are usually enough of a distraction when she's talking so fandom can discuss that rather than whatever policy she's pushing at the time.

Meme[edit | edit source]

Theresa hasn't really appeared in much fic due to fandom's low opinion of her. Sometimes she appears as a villain but mostly she's just not there.
