Ed Miliband / Yvette Cooper
Names Milicooper
Description Looks of longing across the Shadow Cabinet table

That tragic, unrequited, unspoken love.

History[edit | edit source]

Ed Miliband and Yvette Cooper first met at Oxford, where they were both studying PPE. Yvette has no memory of their meeting, but Ed remembers it because Yvette shouted at him. He was the president of the Oxford University Labour Club at the time, and he'd got Yvette her membership card too late for her to vote on something. Yvette was displeased.

This rocky start did not prevent a friendship from blooming between them in the early 1990s, when they both worked for the shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Harriet Harman. During that time, they shared a flat together. Yvette has said that Ed did the washing-up more than she did, "although he never cooked", while Ed said he had to "pick up the wet towels" [1] until Yvette started dating Ed Balls.

Support[edit | edit source]

If this isn't UST, I don't know what is.
This one maybe not so much.
Ed is always delighted by her conference speeches, though.

Fanon[edit | edit source]

Milicooper is usually portrayed as one-sided. Much of it runs along the lines that at the beginning of their friendship, Ed was too geeky and awkward to be able to flirt with women and lost his opportunity with Yvette when she began dating his rival, Ed Balls. He looks rather in awe when she speaks at the despatch box - enough to convince loliticians that he is still in love with her.
