Profile Pages

From Lolitics Wiki

Profile pages contain information about a particular politician or person of interest to the fandom. They begin with a brief explanatory blurb and a reference table of some basic information, and then launch into a more detailed biography and descriptions of the individual and their portrayal both in the media and in fandom. The profile page is repository for all the interesting factoids and anecdotes about a person, so people who are more important- to us, at any rate- tend to have longer pages. No information is too trivial, but try not to editorialize too much about the hidden meaning behind a politician's interactions with his or her colleagues- that's what shipping manifestos are for.

These are the templates for the different types of profile pages. Use them to create a new profile pages by calling them on your first edit of the page. Once you save the page for the first time, the blank article will appear and you can start filling in the blanks.

Politicians[edit | edit source]

Template:Politician

{{subst: Politician | party = Name of party | type = Type | rank = Rank}}

Brief Example: Mark Harper

{{subst:Politician | party = Conservative | type = MP | rank = Minister}}

Long Example: Peter Mandelson

{{subst:Politician | party = Labour | type = Lord | rank = Backbencher}}

Parameters:

  • party ("Conservative", "Labour", "Liberal Democrat", "SNP", etc. Don't use "Tory" or "Lib Dem" or you'll confuse the colour parsers and the navigation system)
  • type ("MP", "Lord", "MSP", "AM", "MEP", "Mayor", etc. Or "Dead".)
  • rank ("Cabinet", "Minister", "Shadow Cabinet", "Shadow Minister", "Backbencher")

There are also "Grandee" and "Prime Minister" categories you can add if they're appropriate, but they don't go in the parameters. If your politician doesn't have a current position- ie. they are Ken Livingstone or Lembit- you can leave type and rank blank, but you'll end up with blank categories at the bottom of the page that you'll have to delete later.

Spads[edit | edit source]

Template:Spad

{{subst: Spad | party = Name of party}}

Spads just have the party parameter, since their type and rank are "spad".

Example: Alastair Campbell

{{subst:Spad | party = Labour}}

Hacks[edit | edit source]

Template:Hack

{{subst: Hack | company = Name of the hack's employer | type = kind of journalist}}

Parameters:

  • company ("BBC", "Sky News", "The Guardian", "News International", etc.)
  • type ("Presenter", "Journalist", "Cartoonist", "Comedian", etc)

Example: Nick Robinson

{{subst:Hack | company = BBC | type = Journalist}}

Activists and Lobbyists[edit | edit source]

At some point they'll have a template. But not yet. Sorry.

Significant Others[edit | edit source]

{{subst:Significant Other | party = Name of Party}}

Like spads, significant others just have the party parameter.

Example: Justine Thornton

{{subst:Significant Other | party = Labour}}
