Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Pre-political Career[edit | edit source]

Early Political Career[edit | edit source]

Parliamentary Career[edit | edit source]

Danny famously embarrassed himself and his party by presenting an alternative Lib Dem budget/incredibly feeble Party Political Broadcast at the dispatch box the day after the real budget was presented in 2015. Bercow rebuked him for abusing his ministerial privileges, the Opposition jeered, and Nick Clegg fled in mortification halfway though the statement.

Danny's humiliation was in no way diminished when it was discovered he'd had himself photographed holding up what appeared to be a yellow lunchbox outside the Treasury.

He lost his seat to the SNP in the 2015 general election. He was subsequently awarded a knighthood in the dissolution honours list following the election[1]. It was widely reported that he was offered a seat in the Lords but turned it down.
